In a world where hands-on experience is king, it is imperative for students to have the right tools. The University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) has world class research facilities that both undergraduate and graduate students can enjoy. From research centers to a supercomputer funded by the National Science Foundation, students are able to collaborate with their peers and professors in order to deepen their learning and make an impact in our world. These opportunities are not only on campus; UCO is a critical player in work happening in the community and across the state.

At UCO, we work tirelessly to provide our students with unique resources that canโ€™t be found just anywhere. Did you know that UCO has a bat cave?!? ๐Ÿฆ‡ The Selman Living Laboratory (SLL) is a field research and teaching facility located in northwestern Oklahoma. It is the official field station of the Biology Department at the University of Central Oklahoma. The Selman Living Laboratory provides a wide array of natural environments, including large bat caves for research and teaching.

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) recognized the significance of these caves and funded the purchase of a maternity cave where we currently have multiple species of over 70,000 bats!

Why do bats matter? Bats help maintain our ecosystem by pollinating and dispersing the seeds of hundreds of plants and by controlling insect populations. As a biologist at UCO, you can join in this conservational fight to preserve our world. ๐ŸŒŽ So if you want to be part of life-changing programs and take advantage of unique research opportunities and resources, UCO is the right choice for you!
