Hello everyone! I am Ambigesh Somasundaram, a Malaysian University of Central Oklahoma student. I am a Psychology major. I am glad to share my ideas on questions we should ask at a Career Fair.
When looking for a job in college, career fairs are a crucial component. When the recruiter asks, “Do you have any questions for me?” make sure you have a list ready as you prepare your resume, outfit, and introduction skills for a job fair. This is our chance, especially as international students, to learn more about the hiring process, available opportunities, and the work environment. Here at UCO, this fantastic resource is free every semester. So, we students should make good use of it. Many will have this thought in mind What is the Right Question I should ask? Here are some questions that are important to get your list started.
1. Which career paths are offered by your company?
At career fairs, some organizations might offer a variety of clearly defined career paths, while others might be more adaptable. This is how we can determine how well our objectives align with the company’s offerings if we are sure that we want to enter management or acquire a professional qualification.
2. How does your hiring procedure for college employees work?
Waiting is a part of the job search, but recruiters can provide estimates to take some of the uncertainty out of the process. How soon will we be informed of the next step? When should we send your application a follow-up? When we know what is happening, it is easier to be patient and prepared for the next step.
3. When will I know if your company has offered me a job?
This is an addition to the one above, but we can ask it independently. While some businesses hire throughout the school year, others only make offers after attending multiple career fairs.
4. Do you provide mentoring or training to help me succeed in your business?
After college, our first job is just the beginning of our career. Through formal training and mentoring, demonstrate to recruiters that we are interested in long-term professional development. If we receive multiple job offers and must choose the best opportunity, the answer to this question may be helpful.
5. Who will be my supervisor? What is the atmosphere like at work?
About this question, could you make your best decision? It’s a good question for small businesses where the recruiter probably works in the same building and is familiar with the people we might work with. It may be preferable to inquire about this later in the hiring process if we speak with someone from a large company.
Since attending career fairs is integral to our job search, we should prepare in advance to get the most out of them. For instance, getting ready to ask the right questions about the job we want or understanding how to boost our self-confidence before the interview. With the above tips, it will be helpful for you guys to read this blog and have a wonderful experience studying at our UCO campus.
