UCentral News took second place nationally in the Broadcast Education Association’s 2021 Festival of Media Arts competition in the TV Newscast category. They competed against over 250 other U.S. colleges and universities. The only university to beat the team was the Cronkite School at the University of Arizona, and yes, that means UCO beat OU.
In keeping with the tradition of excellence, the fall 2020 semester Strategic Communications Campaigns class made the national finals in a competition sponsored by Edventures Partners and the McCain Institute for the Department of Homeland Security’s anti-terrorism projects. UCO Professional Media students won 21 awards in the Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association’s (OBEA) Student Competition. This event is held every year between Oklahoma colleges and universities, with students submitting their best audio and video productions to be judged by media professionals from around the country.

In Fall 2019, students in Dr. Patti Loughlin’s Women in the American West course helped conduct research for several special exhibitions including two currently at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
