Logo for the UCO Writing CenterThe University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) Department of English announces the launch of the UCO Writing Center in collaboration with the Broncho Education and Learning Lab (BELL). Located in the UCO Liberal Arts Building, room 131, the Writing Center is poised to become a vital resource for students seeking personalized assistance with any writing assignment.

The Writing Center will provide opportunities for students to engage in one-on-one consultations, offering constructive feedback, encouragement and guidance on various aspects of the writing process. Staffed by peer tutors who have completed writing pedagogies courses, the center has three dedicated tutors, with goals for expansion.

“We hope students within other disciplines will become peer tutors too as the Writing Center is a university resource that should be used by all students in all majors,” said Amanda Putnam, chair for the department of English at UCO.

“Within the Writing Center, we hope to build a campus culture that values writing, rhetoric and communication across all disciplines.”

The UCO College of Liberal Arts, which houses the Department of English, gives special thanks to English faculty Cynthia Johnson, Matt Hollrah and Amanda Putnam for proposing and advocating for this valuable student resource.

To schedule a session with the writing lab, students are encouraged to visit uco.mywconline.com.

This initiative aligns with the broader mission of BELL, which exists to support undergraduate and graduate students through peer tutoring, supplemental instruction, study skills development, time-management tools, and various forms of academic assistance.

The Writing Center is made possible through generous donations from the UCO College of Liberal Arts’ Advocacy Council and other contributors.
