The Oklahoma State election board released a statement yesterday reminding voters that early voting for the August 23 Runoff Primary elections in Oklahoma begins tomorrow in all counties. Early voting will be available on Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Saturday, August 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
As Oklahoma has closed primary election, voters will only be eligible to vote in their party’s primary. The Democratic Party however, has made an exception this year and has opened their primary elections to voters registered as Independents. It is also important to note that voters without a runoff primary election are still eligible to participate in any non-partisan elections on the ballot.
Sample ballots can be found in the OK Voter Portal here. The list of elections by county can be found here, and a list of early voting locations can be found here, both courtesy of the Oklahoma State Election Board.
Finally, voters who have requested an absentee ballot for the August 23 Runoff Primary are reminded that their ballots must be received by their county election board no later than 7:00 p.m. on election night. These ballots can be returned by the United States Postal Service or private mail carrier, provided documentation is present. “Standard” absentee ballots can be handed directly to the county election board, but must be returned no later than the end of the business day on Monday, August 22. The voter in question must be the person to hand deliver their ballot, and must have valid proof of identity when dropping their ballot off.
If you have any question regarding the upcoming Runoff Primary, or about Oklahoma’s elections in general, please contact your County Election Board or the State Election Board at (405) 522-2391.
